WELCOME.... Friends Of Abbey Meads School, otherwise known as FOAMS, was formed in October 1999. Our mission is to raise funds to allow the school to have the things that the budget won't stretch to! But it is not only about money, we also want to create a sense of community and have some fun! All parents, carers, guardians and staff are automatically members of Abbey Meads Community Primary School PTA and are welcome to attend meetings.
Please don’t be shy, we would love to see you there.
MEETINGS
We normally meet at 7pm in the community meeting room on your left as you come into the school reception area opposite the school office. Please come along to see us if you wish to know more about volunteering at the school.
How Do FOAMS Help The School?
We organise lots of events for the school including discos, quiz nights, raffles, table top sales and the hugely successful Summer Fete. Year on year we subsidise coach trips for each class to enable school trips to take place. Each class are given a specific budget by FOAMS each year to spend on what they think will enhance the learning of their chosen topics for that year. All they have to do is formally request the funds from FOAMS. The senior management team at the school can also request funds from FOAMS if they have a big school project/purchase they wish to make. In the past, FOAMS have contributed heavily towards having new iPads in the school, resurfacing the playground and providing buddy benches.
If families are experiencing financial difficulties and find that they cannot afford for their child to go on school residentials (Braeside in Year 4 and Isle of Wight in Year 6) they can apply for help from FOAMS via the school office. It is our wish that every child in Abbey Meads Community Primary School gets the opportunity to share these experiences with all their classmates.
Without FOAMS funding this simply would not happen and so any help and support is gratefully received.
